Lynn Clouser

Hope For Three is honored to introduce our July Autism Superhero, Lynn Clouser!

Lynn’s journey began when her son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS (Pervasive Development Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified), now known as ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). Lynn connected with another mom who provided helpful resources and information but made her feel the diagnosis was something to keep secret.  As Lynn’s son thrived in school, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and social skills classes, she felt the need to share her son’s progress so that other families could be successful too.

Lynn tells us, “Discussing the diagnosis is a personal choice but for me and my son. His progress confirmed I implemented the right interventions for him at the right time to set him up for success. He found a love for fashion, puppetry, art, and music. He is a junior in high school, has a job, and plans to attend the University of Eastern Michigan upon graduation.”

As the mother to a child on the autism spectrum, Lynn says “I know firsthand the frustrations at the different stages of the autism journey, such as finding the right school structure, therapy providers, doctors, support groups, and financial resources. The lack of support groups during our early days promoted me and my friend to start one in the Fort Bend area called Autism Caregivers Around the Bend.

I do what I do to lighten the load for families by giving them resources that I know worked for my family and others to help remove some of the frustrations caregivers face while searching for the resources to meet their child’s needs. Having someone who you can trust and lean on makes a difference.”

Lynn’s superpower is service; not only she supports other families in their autism journey, but she also is Missouri City Councilwoman At-Large, Position 2, serving her community as it grows.

Her love for her children, her work in the community, and supporting families on the autism journey are what make Lynn a true Autism Superhero! Congratulations!
