Wilma Shaw

Hope For Three is honored to introduce you to our September Autism Superhero, Wilma Shaw!

“Autism parents are strong, determined, and fiercely protective. They face challenges others can’t imagine, and they never give up.” – Unknown

Wilma is an encouraging and supportive mother who provides her son, Shane, 13, with tremendous support and protection during his autism journey. As a mom, she believes that self-care is one of her superpowers. By taking care of and dedicating time to herself, Wilma thinks she can continue to be a great role model for Shane.

One of Wilma’s many accomplishments was enrolling in college and receiving her master’s degree in human services. Wilma shared, “It was not easy to do, but once I committed to it, I realized how much I needed this to be a super mom”.

Wilma expressed how difficult the autism journey can be, especially when she was without support. And when Wilma was first introduced to Hope For Three, she was relieved to know there was support when she and her son needed it most. Shane received crucial resources, and now, both Shane and Wilma are thriving. Shane has improved so much that Wilma decided to earn her second master’s degree in mental health counseling. Wilma’s hard work, persistence, patience, and love for herself and her son make Wilma Hope For Three’s September Autism Superhero!
