Jairus Igbokwe

Meet Jairus—Our Brave, Joyful Superstar Jairus is a bright-eyed 5-year-old with a laugh that lights up the room and a determination that inspires everyone around him. At age 3, he was diagnosed with autism, and our family faced overwhelming challenges: Jairus was nonverbal, trapped in his own world, and struggling with dangerous behaviors like head-banging, biting, and bolting. We were terrified for his future—until Hope For Three stepped in and changed everything. Our Struggle Before Hope For Three Silent Frustration: Jairus couldn’t speak—just screams and tears when he couldn’t communicate. Doctors warned he might never develop functional speech. Isolation: No playdates, no family outings. Even grocery store trips ended in meltdowns. Danger Every Day: He’d chew his hands raw, run into streets, and couldn’t sleep more than 2 hours a night. Hopelessness: Specialists said, “Without intensive therapy, he may need lifelong care.” How Hope For Three Saved Us They provided critical financial aid for: 40 hours/week of ABA therapy—teaching Jairus to communicate, reducing self-harm by 87% in 6 months Augmentative speech tools (PECS system)—his first bridge to language Parent training—so we could continue his progress at home Sensory tools—nally helping him sleep through the night They also gave us something priceless: Guidance to navigate ABA meetings. A community of families who truly understand the struggle The Miracles We Celebrate Today From Mute to Chatterbox: Jairus now sings “Twinkle Twinkle”, argues with his big sister, and—our favorite—says “I love you, Mommy!” Safety & Independence: No more self-injury. He holds our hand in parking lots instead of running. School Success: His teacher says, “You’d never know he was nonverbal two years ago.” Pure Joy: He has best friends, plays T-ball, and tells hilarious knock-knock jokes. What Hope For Three Gave Us Beyond Therapy Firsts we thought we’d never see: Blowing out birthday candles without a meltdown. Sitting through a whole movie. Asking for a hug. A future we once feared was impossible: Doctors now say he’s on track for independence. The gift of hope: Every word, every milestone, is because of you. To Hope For Three and Its Supporters: You didn’t just fund therapy—you gave Jairus his voice, his safety, and his future. Every dollar went toward measurable, life-changing progress. We can never thank you enough. With tears of gratitude, Lloyd, Jairus’s Dad
