Students from local area high schools turn suds and shine into support as they ready for the third annual CAR WASH FOR KIDS on April 13, 2014 from 11:00am – 3:00pm! Sign up here to volunteer!
In March 2013, a parental study by the CDC indicated “1 in 50 school-age children are affected by autism”. Support for families living with autism is needed now more than ever. Students join together to raise awareness and funds for their differently-able classmates.
The event, organized by H43 Teen Huddle volunteers is part of “It’s Cool to Care”; a county-wide awareness campaign to empower and enable youth to make a positive contribution to the lives of other young people with unique abilities – autism.
Just as the teens are putting a shine to community vehicles, Beauty Indulgence Day Spa, located less than three minutes away from the car wash event, 4715 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land, will pamper all patrons with a $24 haircut and blow dry ($65 value). Half of the haircut proceeds will go to the Hope for Three Family Resources Program. Stylists will be available to cut, style and cater to the community from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The salon will also raise funds at the event for clean water at home and around the world in observation of Earth Month. Keeping with the eco-friendly effort, is Eco-Touch Premium Car Care, a Green America Certified Company, will provide non-toxic bio-degradable supplies for the waterless car wash.
The benefits of an eco-friendly car wash:
• saves 20 – 100 gallons of water
• non-toxic, free of chemicals, eliminates
• eliminates soapy mess and toxic runoff, preventing runoff from ending up in storm drains that flow straight to bodies of water – untreated.
